Tell Us a Little About YOU!! I love designing! It has been a passion of mine for quite some time, I finally decided to follow my dreams and open my business online with hopes to grow later down the road. I recently heard that the best adventure to take is the one you have in front of you right now, that is what I am doing right now.

Tell us a bit about you and your family. I just recently got engaged!!! We are planning our wedding and looking forward to what God has to offer for our future. We have so much in common! He is a Rancher so if I am not behind the computer we are both usually out at the Ranch. We have 5 dogs between the two of us that we both brought into the relationship, so even though I do not have any children yet…I kind of consider myself a WAHM, especially since one of them is a Yorkie! He demands a lot of attention and can usually be found either in my lap or on the shelf at the base of my desk!

What inspires you? Oh so many different things offer inspiration on a daily basis! Mostly I like to look around me and see other Women who have followed their dreams and succeeded. God has such wonderful things for us, usually we just have to reach out and take them and be willing to accept them.

How do you achieve a work/life balance? Right now I am not very good at this. I am currently working full-time and then pursue my dreams after work and all weekend long. I am hoping that this will pay off soon and I can relax and focus on planning a wedding and starting a family!

What do you like to do in your spare time? Spare time? What’s that? Right now most of my spare time is spent at the Ranch either working or relaxing. We love to hunt and when it’s not hunting season, riding around the Ranch you find and see all kinds of cool things!

How has becoming a WAHM made a difference in your life? Well, I am not a 100% WAHM but I am looking very forward to pursuing that goal… soon J

Tell us a little about your biz and what makes it unique. Prairie Paper Co offers Stationery and Invitations (among other products) that you won’t find down any isle in your local grocery store! Creating products that makes you excited to receive is my goal!

When did you first become a WAHM/open your biz? I started my graphic design business {Glambition Designs} in October of 2010 and decided to branch out to Stationery and Invitations just a few months ago! I am currently working on working at home full time!

What has been your biggest challenge as a WAHM? Getting out of my pajamas! Of course, I don’t have children yet so I haven’t had to experience the challenges of being at home and raising children, although I am looking forward to that as opposed to working somewhere else and raising children.

What has been one of your biggest achievements in business? I am self-taught and that has been very rewarding for me to learn and figure things out on my own! It makes me feel like maybe I can do anything!

Favorite WAHM resources? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bizzy Mama, Jenni and Susan have always been great to help me out with any question I have had from my website to actually helping me grow my business. I offer other Approved Hosts on my Graphic Design site but always suggest clients go with Bizzy Mama. You can’t beat great customer service!

Where do you see your biz in 5 years? 10 years? Not just online anymore and 100% WAHM!! Hopefully those goals will be even quicker than 5 years. My life has changed just in the last 5 months drastically from starting Prairie Paper Co, getting engaged, and moving to his hometown. So I am not sure what exactly years from now will bring but I know that whatever it is, it will be amazing!

What have you found to be the most effective way to promote your biz? Of course Facebook and Twitter are great means of getting clients from all over, Etsy has proved to be a lot more beneficial than I had originally thought. I am new to Etsy but took a gamble and am already selling products in only 2 weeks. Bizzy Mama is also great at promoting all of their current clients. I have found several shops that I love just from their newsletters and facebook page. Lastly, nothing can ever beat Advertising! You just have to find the right spot for your business and you would actually be surprised at that you can find advertisement for $35/month that is just a great as the $1500 advertisements I have looked into!

Any advice for new WAHM's or those considering starting their own biz? GO FOR IT! You will regret not at least giving it a try. My favorite quote from Kelly Cutrone of Peoples Revolution is “You find out who and what you are by finding out who and what you are not”.

Any last comments? Always be supportive of other WAHM’s. We are all in this together one way or the other and by helping out a fellow WAHM we help ourselves in the end! …And of course, follow your dreams! It’s not always a yellow brick road but always worth it!

For this and the next question - http://thecraftcobbler.com/pages/about.htm - the only thing I don't have on that page is that I happen to be an Iraq war veteran. I served for 3 years, 3 months, 24 days, and roughly 18 hours in the military.

What inspires you?

Music. A pretty piece of fabric. For the first one, well, I've played the piano since I was four - it is my emotional outlet. It restores my soul a bit and helps me plug along. For the second one, I love just looking at a piece of fabric and thinking of all the fun and creative projects I could create!

How do you achieve a work/life balance?

I don't. That's honesty at its best. I don't think I'll ever have that balanced while the kids are little. I stay up late to sew instead of sleeping more because I use my day time hours for my children and for household things.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Work on craft projects - mod podge, styrofoam, upcycling, and various other arts and crafts things for the house

How has becoming a WAHM made a difference in your life?

It has enabled me to stay at home with my three little ones and focus more time on them. I will always treasure these moments and younger years.

BIZ Questions...

Tell us a little about your biz and what makes it unique.

I sew my own purses, wristlets, clutches, dog collars and leashes, lanyards (coming soon), reusable sandwich bags, key fobs, cozies for soda, wine, and flash drives, and more! I think I am unique in that I offer so many different product lines. I would be bored if I only sewed purses, for example. I enjoy sewing so many different items and I think this allows me to reach a wider customer base.

My craft shows - and sewing for a womens' golf tournament in Italy

Favorite WAHM resources?

The Etsy blogs and forums have been very helpful to me - other than that, really myself. I don't like depending on others and so I really have chosen to focus on that instead of seeking out resources. Maybe if there were other WAHMs that I knew in my area I would connect with them, but I don't.

Where do you see your biz in 5 years? 10 years?

In 5 years, I would like to be operating solely out of my website, not selling on Etsy, and have a solid schedule of craft shows. If I am still in Decatur at this time, I want to be able to get into our local Arts in Central Park, a prestigious juried art show. I would also like to have a solid connection with my local golf clubs and wineries - something I am starting now. I have begun my line of golf ball drawstring bags (because of the tournament I sewed for) and I would like to market these to golf clubs in Central Illinois. I have also started conversation with local wineries regarding the sale of my wine bottle cozies and gift bags. In ten years, if I am still here in this area, I would like to get into the Renegade Art Show in Chicago, something that takes years for some artists to achieve.

What have you found to be the most effective way to promote your biz?

Word of mouth advertising, participation in auctions on other WAHM business sites, and craft shows

Any advice for new WAHM's or those considering starting their own biz?

Dive right in and remember that the "to-do list" for a new business never really gets smaller. Just keep plugging away and you'll get it!

What do you like to do in your spare time? Define 'Spare time' ?? As a mum there is always something to do!! Right now my house is a mess and I should probably be cleaning up! Having said that - we have a caravan up at the River so on weekends we go there for mini breaks and just hang out!

How has becoming a WAHM made a difference in your life? Its awesome not having to get up and get ready to 'go to work'! I love being able to work from home - around my kids, in my PJ's with a messy house!

When did you first become a WAHM/open your biz? I actually started working from home 2 years ago with my other business 'Angelic Scents & Beauty', but I sold that business shortly after I started this website.

What has been your biggest challenge as a WAHM? Trying to keep my business and website unique from the hundreds of others out there doing the same thing!

What has been one of your biggest achievements in business? Im still waiting! I have minor victories regularly, and hope that one day my website and store will be big enough to earn a real living from!

I just turned 26 and am a mom of 2 with 1 on the way, have been married for 8 years to a

soldier, and I am blessed to be able to stay home with my children and do what I love.

I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart and if it were not for Him I

would not be where I am today. Tell us a bit about you and your

family. My oldest is 5 years old and he just started Kindergarten this

year! Our youngest is 3 years old and she is a handful let me tell

you. She would rather scavenge the house and go on her own adventure

rather then play with any toys. She craves attention like many ladies

I know though lol. Our 3rd is on the way, I am about 6 months pregnant

with another baby girl! Very exciting time in our lives. My husband

and I both go to college as well, but everything is local which we

purposely planned to destress our lives. It is nice to only have a 5

minute drive to (his) work and school, or the store...or any other

place with food (I am pregnant remember? lol).

What inspires you?

I get inspired by my love for people in general.

Knowing I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength gives

me confidence and inspiration to come up with ideas and follow through

with them. How do you achieve a work/life balance? At first it was

hard when my boy started Kindergarten. I had all day to work and it

would be hard to make myself take a break. I found I have to work in

chunks, according to what each day has scheduled etc. For me, working

up until school lets out is good. Sometimes I don't get everything

done and since I am more of a night owl, I feel better cutting it

short in the afternoon and just finishing after my kids go to bed.

Also, I went to college full time last semester but cut it back to

part time this fall, so I would have more time to balance

work/kids/home/getting ready for baby!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spare time is a rare thing,

but I love being around family, whether immediate or extended, that's

for sure! I love visiting people, just being able to talk you know. I

love going out to eat, to the park, movies, and of course shopping

(online and instore). I am pretty simple, but to me anything is fun as

long as you have someone to share it with!

How has becoming a WAHM made a difference in your life?

Being a WAHM

is such a blessing! It allows me to start work when I want, take my

son to school and pick him up. I don't have to worry about a

conflicting work schedule, or pay a babysitter for my daughter. I

would probably only make enough to pay the sitter anyways so what is

the point? Of course being a WAHM isn't for everyone and I understand

some people want to but can't. I do not take anything for granted. And

some day I may have to deal with a schedule since it has been a long

time dream to have an actual brick & mortar shop.

BIZ Questions...

Tell us a little about your biz and what makes it unique.

I love creating designs on the computer, designs for shirts and onesies. I try and make designs

that appeal to different types of people. I take these designs and get them printed on my

garments to sell. I found that I love organic products. They are super soft and the quality is

much better. I want Tee rific Tots to stand out from the typical clothing brand. If a design is not

just downright gotta have cute, then I want it to carry a positive message. What makes Tee rific

Tots unique is that you can find many different styles from modern, punk, boutique,

inspirational etc. Being able to draw out something and sew it to reality is pretty neat too, so I

always welcome custom designs in just about anything.

When did you first become a WAHM/open your biz?

I became a WAHM way

before I was actually open for business. I took a couple years to

research companies, pick out a web host & designer, and tinker with my

logo since it is a brand. I have been online for almost a year now but

did an official "Open for Business" with my website on January 1,

2011.

What has been your biggest challenge as a WAHM?

Having so many

ideas/projects but not enough funds to pour into all of them. I am not

a widely known business yet so sometimes I feel like a mom staying up

late at night waiting for my teenager to walk through the door lol. I

know it will happen with time, but it takes hard work getting your

name out there. I just have to have patience and stick with it, even

through the slow months. Everything I have made thus far has went

straight back into Tee rific Tots. It isn't a job that I do for the

money, it is because I love what I do.

What has been one of your biggest achievements in business?

My biggest

achievement is when I applied for a trademark for my brand and months

later was sent on to the next stage in registering it. I am not

"proud" of a lot of things, but this is a huge check off the list for me!

Favorite WAHM resources?

I love getting unique fabrics from Ebay. I

also use Vistaprint.com for a lot of my print projects because they

are so affordable. There are many websites that allow you to sell

their products if you do not or can not sell your own. Drop shipping has its downsides too so I

suggest researching first. Joann.com and

Walmart carry a lot of notions and patterns I like. Once I have my

materials I like to make up my own ideas/designs. Where do you see

your biz in 5 years? 10 years? In 5-10 years I hope to have an actual

cafe open where I also sell my goods. I feel I have an achievable goal

since I won't be graduating with my Business Management degree for a

few years anyways : )

What have you found to be the most effective way to promote your biz?

I utilize any free advertising that I can whether it be local news websites, Facebook, or even a

bulletin board somewhere with random ads: business card + thumb tack = potential customers!

I don't know that there has been 1 way that has been better than others for me. My first few

sales were from church members. Word of mouth is always helpful. I am trying to network with

some local businesses that sell crafty type products, boutiques etc. I know online you can reach

so many people, but the competition out there is hairy. For me I have come to find I am more

motivated to let my "town" know that I am here first.

Any advice for new WAHM's or those considering starting their own biz?

Don't throw a lot of money into just one idea necessarily. I made this mistake at the very

beginning and ending up getting bored, and then had a lot of material laying around that wasn't

selling. It is better to try different things for a while to see if you are really in it for the long haul.

Most of us are using our own money to do this, so it is a big deal to be financially wise in your

spending. Never give up...if you love doing something and want to make a dream a reality, it can

happen. Time and research in the beginning and throughout are just as important as anything

when it comes to business. Look at other companies that are in the same genre that you want to

be in. This isn't to "copy" them, it is quite for the opposite. This day in age you want to give

people something that another company can't! That is what sets you apart : )

Any last comments?

Thanks to all those who have helped me get my business off the ground and for those who never

questioned my aspirations, but only gave encouragement. It means a lot! I hope to help others

in the same position and ignite a fire in those who don't think they can do it.

Just think of women around the world who depend on their skills to get their family through.

Some of us do it because we have to, some just because. Whatever the reason, I pray if you are

reading this you will realize you are just as important as the next guy and that small business is

what this country needs!

Tell us a little about your biz and what makes it unique. Well, my business encompasses the most important aspects of many peoples' lives, weddings and children. There are tons of décor businesses for weddings and children, but very few that hand-paint their products.

When did you first become a WAHM/open your biz? I opened my business in March of 2007.

What has been your biggest challenge as a WAHM? Again, I'm only temporarily a WAHM, but the hardest part thus far has been trying to find time to fit everything in. I find myself working late at night once the baby is asleep.

What has been one of your biggest achievements in business? I've had my wedding products featured in many online blogs, newspapers, and magazines including Brides, Desination Weddings and Honeymoons, and even the L.A. Times. The baby products have just launched, so we haven't had many features yet...but we plan to!

Where do you see your biz in 5 years? 10 years? Hopefully I'll be able to leave my day job to focus fully on being a WAHM within 5 years time, if I'm lucky.

Name your biz: One of the most crucial things you can do is to think of the perfect name for your business. A name that will stand out and represent what you're trying to sell. Once you think of a name or two (preferably a few, and you'll see why), you need to do your research to be sure that name isn't already in use. You can use a domain checker on a site like Go Daddy to see if what you want is available.

Purchase a domain name: So we've discussed a business name and seeing if the name is available as a domain. Next you'll want to purchase said domain (once you've totally did your research). There are many places to purchase a domain from. Go Daddy is the biggest. Most web hosts offer domain purchases there as well.

Web Hosting: Essentially, a web host is like a garage. You park your car in the garage and it protects the car. A web hosting is the place where your site will be held and looked after. There are many web hosts out there. Do your research. Search through their packages. Find the best that will fit your business and what you need from the host.

Web Design: A good way to ensure your site stands out from the crowd is via the look of your site. The marketing for the work at home mom has really grown in the past few years. More and more WAHM's are taking control of their futures and walking the line of SAHM and WAHM. In this article we will explore some of the main areas that you can market your work at home job.

Blogs: A blog is a form of communication with a number of different people, perspective clients, etc. Many sites are just a blog. Many accompany a site. It's all about keeping your client up to date and having more information readily available for new clients to find and eventually hit your website.

Directories: A directory is just that. A place that directs you to another place, like a phone book of sorts. It's broken down by category and that makes the search very easy. There are many many directories out there for the work at home mom.

Top 100 Lists: A top 100 list is a list hosted by various sites. Stores, boutiques, blogs, etc. etc. You submit your business to the top 100 site, put one of their tags on your site or blog, and visitors can go to your site and vote for you. The more votes you get, the higher you are ranked in the top 100.

Facebook: We all know what Facebook is and I'm sure most of us have a business page already set up (if you don't, do it ASAP!!). There are also many other businesses with Facebook pages out there with their sole intention to promote other businesses by tagging and just spreading the word. Their fans see your page, they "like" you. You get more fans! It's a simple and fun way to gain attention! But be careful! Too much tagging could result in Facebook cracking down and marking you as SPAM. So please, be smart.

Search Engines: The best way and the most common way to get your site noticed is in the form of search engines. How many times a day do you use Google or Bing to search for something? Well, that's the same thing for your potential clients! By submitting your site to search engines, you're taking a step to be sure your site gets noticed!! Also ensuring you have great Meta information will help with searches. But that's a different article...

Forums and Miscellaneous: A good way to get your link out there is through forums. There are many many forums out there for small businesses and work at home parents. Put a link in your signature space, and you're one step closer to building a great backlog of links to build your site up!

How Free Web Hosting Is Bad for Your Business

When starting a business from scratch, cost is very important. There are many offers out there for free this or free that. Free web hosting is a big one. And free is definitely something we want to hear. You think, "It's just hosting. I can cut a corner and go free with that." Have you ever heard the old adage "You get what you pay for?" There is a lot of truth to that. And I'll tell you why free web hosting can be terrible for your business!

First off, customer service. If you have any questions about your new site, good luck finding answers! These free accounts are churned out without a thought to the people behind them. When looking for a web host, its good to seek other people's opinions. Do your homework!

Another thing to consider is what you're going to get free. Odds are, it's a bare bones site. You'll need to know how to work with HTML or other files such as that. You bandwidth and general "space" you'll have available will be very limited.

You also need to find how reliable the host is. The goal is to have as much "up" time as possible. Also, what would their policy be on hackers and safety of your site and other pertinent information you may keep on this site? Odds are the free host will fall short. Again, "you get what you pay for."

To offer this free service, there will probably be some obtrusive advertising to deal with. Banners, links, and other inconveniences. Not very attractive to potential customers!

First impressions are everything with an online business. Easy to navigate sites are going to have return customers. A good-looking site will draw you back. With a free site, it will be drab, boring and a bit on the ugly side. NOT a great first impression.

So these are a few reasons to avoid that lucrative free hosting offer. Most hosting sites are very affordable and offer a great variety of software or scripts to help make your site the best it can be. You want success in what you do and that starts from the beginnings. You'll buy the best fabric for you kids dresses. The best yarn for those cute little baby hats. And you'll want the best site to display your best work! So do your homework and find the best web host out there for your needs!

Get Organized For The New Year!

The holidays are over. The presents all unwrapped. Returns...returned. Now its time to think of those New Years resolutions. We have good intentions but we hardly follow through. It just happens. But when you're talking about making your business grow and prosper in the New Year, you must start at the heart of the business...home office organization!!!. This year we're getting ourselves organized and we want to share some of our tips that may help you as well!

1. File file file. If you have files already, go through them. Get rid of stuff that is old and you don't need anymore. Get a nice file system going. Invoices, work orders, supply on hand, etc. It's a very easy thing to do.

2. Clean. Clean off your desk inside and out. Also clean out your computer. That will help organization, and also potentially help your computer work faster.

3. Invest in organizational materials. Boxes, binders, cases. There's a place for everything and everything should be in its place!

4. Write things down in a nice organized notebook, planner, binder, whathaveyou. Something that you can reference easily later. You'll never forget a task or appointment again. You could also try an online office. That is great for a business that has a small staff that needs to stay connected.

5. When in doubt, ask for help. There are many friends and family members who'd be happy to help. Also, there are many services out there that especially target the work at home worker and came help with some of your day to day tasks.

Organize Your Thoughts

How many of you have your best ideas in the shower? Or as you're dropping the kids off at school? And by the time you get home the idea is gone. Poof! Adios! It has been replaced with a small grocery list, you need to put money in the kids lunch accounts, what should you make for dinner tonight? You are not alone! It seems every brilliant idea comes at the most obscure time. So what can you do to make sure those ideas don't get buried in your day to day thoughts?

For starters, think about having a pen and paper everywhere. Even if its scrap paper or notebooks in every room ( Wink you know who you are) it will get your thoughts organized and not forgotten. Now, you think, "what am I going to do with all these paper thoughts?" Your answer can be as simple as an accordion file folder! They're relatively inexpensive and you can file your thoughts by subject, keywords, or anyway you'd like.

So, the kids take over your notebooks? Now worries. Plain notebooks are relatively inexpensive. Maybe while you're plotting out your day you can have your kiddos draw pictures for you in their own little notebook. Explain "this one's for mommy and this other one is for you". Maybe even let them decorate it with stickers so that they know it is their very own.

Are you a tech junkie? Utilize your cell phone! Send yourself a text message or if you have access to your email through your phone, send yourself an email. Another way you can alert yourself of your ideas is to call yourself. Leave yourself a voice mail or a message on your answering machine.

Now you have a few ways you can never let those brilliant ideas of yours slip by just because you aren't at "work"!

You have a business and you've had it for some time now. You think that the next logical step is a website! Get your name out to the masses. You've heard about web hosting, but you're unsure of what it is or why you need it. Here's a brief summary on the basics of web hosting.

Web Hosting is like a home for your website. You've purchased a domain name and you need a host to get things set up. The web host provides storage for all your data. Usually a web host houses one or more websites. The web host provides maintenance on a regular basis as well. So if you didn't have this home to store your information, you wouldn't have much of a website!

So now you know the basics of what web hosting is all about. Now you need to how to choose a web host. There are many web hosts out there, so feel free to shop around. One of the big things to think about is how big you want, or need, to go. Many web hosting companies provide packages at many different tiers. They usually start from lowest (a smaller amount of space) to highest (most amount of space) and the prices accommodate.

Another factor, especially if you're a business that centers around selling a product (or products), is what kind of shopping carts are available to use. Many hosts have a variety of options to give its customers. And for the customer who doesn't have a cart, there are many different scripts out there (i.e. WordPress for a blog) to make your website pop.

Now, there is a lot of things for you to consider. And you're thinking, "I know nothing about code or scripts or design. What do I do"? Well, another thing to look for in a host is what kind of help they can provide you. Many web hosts do offer these services for a fee. If you can afford it, you won't have to "lift a finger" so to speak!

We love Zen Cart. A lot of people give it bad reviews, but our honest opinion is that Zen is just misunderstood. Granted, there is a bit of a learning curve there, especially if you are 1- brand new to the web or 2- switching from another cart.

* Tons of great FREE add-ons from the large Zen community
* Unlimited category depth

Some Zen Cart Cons:

* Some common admin panel features are lacking

Cube Cart- 4 out of 5 stars

Cube Cart is a good option for smaller stores that don't intend to sell tons and tons of products. It is also much easier to template, even for beginners, and has a great WYSIWYG editor built into the back end making uploading content a breeze.

Cube Cart offers an open source (the one we offer) and a paid version, and requires that you keep their branding intact in order to use the open source of their cart. This means that in your page description, you will have your business name and then (powered by cube cart) beside it. You are also required to keep Cube Cart's link in the footer of your website (which is good web manners, anyway). For more information about Cube Cart, please click here to visit their site.

Some Cube Cart Pros:

* Easier to template, even for beginners
* WYSIWYG editor makes adding content easy
* Unlimited extra pages
* Very simple to add meta tags

Some Cube Cart Cons:

* OS version does not allow you to set-up coupon codes, and is also missing many common features
* There are not as many mods, free or paid to allow your store to grow with your business
* OS version requires you keep their name in your page description, which MAY harm your SEO
* Smaller community than both Zen and OSC offer

OSCommerce- 3 out of 5 stars

Maybe it's a little unfair of us to judge OSCommerce so harshly, afterall, they were the *first open source out there, and the one that our all time favorite, Zen Cart, is based off of. Thing is, OSCommerce is a little more difficult to learn and work with, and is missing a lot of the great features that other carts have standard. * Print invoices and packaging lists from the order screen
* Multilingual support
* Multicurrency support

Some OSCommerce Cons:

But all too vital for the moms out there, especially this time of year!

Christmas Day. The presents have all been unwrapped, taken out of their packages, played with to the point of annoyance. You go to put them away in your child's room and it hits you. Where the hell is all this stuff going to go? It's quite a daunting task. Do I keep this? Pitch this? Donate this? Sell this? You are not alone mama.

First you'll need some tools.

* Totes are your best friend. They're relatively inexpensive and can be used over and over again.

* I'd recommend labeling all your totes with what is in it and the date that you put those items in there. You can use sticker labels, pieces of paper and tape, whatever you've got handy.

* Get some good, heavy duty trash bags for those odd shaped, broken items you may be pitching.

Organizing your child's toys can be an emotional event. I would recommend that you take the kiddos over to grandmas for an afternoon and clean. The last thing you need when you're trying to organize is a child whining over a toy that they haven't played with in over a year and you know that they would only play for it for a total of 5 minutes after rediscovering it.

Pitch the little Happy Meal toys or other small, insignificant items that are just taking up space at the bottom of your toybox. They may seem cool at the time, but if you kids are anything like mine, the novelty wears off in about, oh, two days tops. Also look at the toys and see what would be good to donate/sell. If it's broken or defective, I'd recommend pitching. Also if you're going through clothing as well, pitch any items that have holes, stains, or are just plain worn out.

Try and organize the old toys by age group. Label your totes for easy access. If you're a garage sale girl, it will make thing so easy come spring when you set up shop. If you're a donater, the labeling will help the charity out a bunch. If you have clothing, try and organize those by sizes and label those totes accordingly.

Now that you've done the dirty work, you can easily place your kiddos new stuff in their haven and all involved are happy little clams. Enjoy!

They are places you can freely share information about your business to others by simple word of mouth or by paid advertisements. Below you will find a list of the most popular social media outlets used in Social Media Marketing and how they can be used as such.

Facebook

On Facebook, a business has the option to purchase advertising space or they can build a Fan page. With a Fan page, one can invite friends, family or business customers to be come Fans. In essence, as your Fan page grows, thus grows the potential for more traffic and a way to build backlinks by making posts about your business that includes links.

Twitter

With Twitter, one can make a page for a business. You follow people, people will follow you. It's very much word of mouth. You post small blurbs about your business, including links, and can build backlinks in the process.

Linked In

Linked In is a bit more professional than the above two. Its more business oriented. You start a page for you, the business owner, and you connect with other business owners. It's a great way to make connections within the business community.

YouTube

YouTube is a definite buzz worthy outlet. Amongst the zany and funny videos is a place for serious business content. A business can create its own channel and posts mini ads, straight talk or amusing content to get people in and hooked. And a YouTube video can be crossed over and posted on outlets such as Facebook and Twitter.

Blogs

A blog is the newest, hottest accesory. Not only can you blog about your personal life experiences, but you can also blog about business. On a blog you can post articles pertaining to your business (or maybe not). Contests are a fun way to draw attention to your blog. You can join with other people in the same line of business and support each other through link exchanges. It's a great way to get the word out and can be picked up by search engines effortlessly!

Forums

Forums are another great way to get that attention and build backlinks to improve Page Rank. A forum is a community of people, usually with the interest of your business, where you can build relationships as well. It can boost the quality of customer coming to your site.

Social Media Marketing, when used wisely and efficietnly, can do wonders for your business. Sometimes there's nothing better than good old word of mouth.

Blogging With your blog, you can write about the goings on of your site. Leave a link in every post you make and on the main page of the blog. If you can find a community of other bloggers with businesses similar to your own, you could even join together to support each other. Its a great way to garner attention.

Forums Especially ones that allow links in the signature area of your posts. The more you post, the more your link will get counted and can help your page rank. The higher your page rank, the more you will get noticed!

Posting Classified Ads There are several sites that have free classified listings. Craigslist is a good one. Posting ads in there can get a good amount of traffic.

Writing Articles You can write about what you sell or do on your site or you can write about experiences you've had. The beauty of article writing (especially on EZine Articles) is that you can leave your sites link at the bottom of each article you write!

Submitting to Search Engines and Directories You can submit your site to Google, Yahoo, etc. and that will help get your site seen. Most are free and some are cost, so look carefully

Surviving family and the holidays with the kids

Over the river and through the woods...its that time of year again! Time to lug the kids around to various relative's houses. Time to spend hours in the car. Time for the kids to get bored to tears listening to grandpa's fishing stories and Aunt Sheila's gout problems. Time for endless kisses from relatives that the kids barely know. It's tough for kids. Here are some ideas to make things a little bit easier for your little ones this upcoming holiday season.

Long car rides can be a parent's worst nightmare. When our family travels, which we will do so this turkey day, I let the kids pack up a backpack. They love bringing a little bit of legos, paper and crayons, handheld games or their favorite book. It helps to pass the time and they stay quiet! Score. But what really keeps them quiet on those car rides...portable DVD player. Our car came equipped with one and it is a godsend. I'm not saying "go run out and get one!" but I'm saying consider the investment.

Now that the ride is over its family time. It can be very overwhelming for a kid. Lots of hugs and kisses from relatives that are scarcely seen. Let them know to be as polite as possible and that its only for a day. Hopefully among all the adult relatives there may be some cousins that they can play with. Let them bring their backpack in with them. They're going to get bored fast and the activities they have packed will help alleviate some of the dreadful family boredom.

Table manners. Go over some ground rules with the kids before mealtime. They don't have to be perfect. Nobody's perfect. But let them know what you expect out of them during mealtime. No food fights, no belching and laughing. Chew with your mouth closed...stuff like that. Make the rules appropriate for your situation.

You're on your way home! You've made it! And hopefully with no meltdowns. And hopefully the kids are going to be worn out!! A good night sleep is usually guaranteed for all after a busy family day.
